Why we built this

A personal story of love, loss, and finding a better way.

Queen and Ace, the dogs who inspired NurturedPet.

Ace was a Yorkiepoo, AKC pedigree, 17 beautiful years.

He was more than a pet. He was there for my wife through traumatic times, through her own sickness, through the hardest moments of life. He was her anchor.

Between Ace and Queen, who has heart disease, we were suddenly managing fourteen different medications, each on its own schedule. Some nights we’d be up at 2am giving Ace his medicine. Every app we tried felt like a clinical compliance tracker, not a tool for exhausted caregivers.

Ace passed at 17. Queen still needs us. So we started building NurturedPet, the app we wished had existed. My wife saw what it was becoming and said I should share it with other pet parents. That’s when it became something bigger.

It Started with Ace

Ace was a Yorkiepoo who lived 17 beautiful years. He was healthy for most of his life, though his final year was his hardest. But Ace was never “just a pet.” He was my everything.

For 17 years, he was there through every season of life. Happy moments, difficult ones, illness, healing, and everything in between. He was my constant, my comfort, and my anchor. No matter what was happening, Ace was there.

As he aged, his care became more involved. He faced serious health challenges, including cancer and vision issues, and it required intentional, daily attention. It wasn’t easy, but we did everything we could for him, every step of the way. His care was an act of love, and he was never alone.

Losing Ace was devastating. Even now, it still hurts. His life, and the love we shared, changed us forever. This journey, and the care he needed in his final chapter, is what planted the seed for everything that followed.

NurturedPet remembers the details so you don’t have to, notices the little changes, and is there at 2 AM when you need a steady voice.

A friend who knows and cares. Your companion knows your pet’s medications and routine, and talks with you like a friend, not a scripted robot.

Example conversation. You: Queen wouldn’t eat her pill pocket today. I tried everything. Care Companion: That happens, especially on hard days. I’ve noted it, so we can keep an eye on her appetite this week. Want a reminder to try again after dinner? You: Yes please. Thank you. Reminder set for after dinner

Your hands are full. Just say it. Measuring a dose with one hand and holding your dog with the other? Speak, and it’s done.

Say “Log Queen’s Vetmedin” and it’s done: Logged at 8:02 AM.

Notices the little changes. If Queen’s sleeping breathing rate creeps up over a week, NurturedPet points it out, so you can mention it at your next vet visit.
